Client Testimonials

  • John Harrower
We employed MacDonald Dickson Architecture to design a loft conversion and an open plan living/kitchen dining space. We were very impressed with Darren’s ideas and final design, particularly as he was able to reuse some of the period features we were keen to retain. Throughout the build Darren has supported us in selecting and dealing with builders and has kept an eye on work progress. We are very satisfied with the work and would have no hesitation in using MacDonald Dickson Architecture in the future.

The experience of dealing with a friendly and efficient architectural firm has been a pleasure. Your plans were as I visualised and I think it has made a wonderful living space from the dereliction we started from.
  • Sally Wills
Darren listened carefully to what we thought we wanted and provided designs for this as well as his alternatives. He took time to explain them in detail and walk us through the options down to the tiniest of detail. Darren was always on hand to liaise between ourselves and the contractors, always with the greatest attention to detail. We would not hesitate to recommend the services of MDa.
  • Keith & Inez Beard
“Initially unsure of our eventual goals, we immediately struck up an excellent relationship with Darren Macdonald of Macdonald Dickson. Thoughts for a retirement downsize gradually transformed into exciting plans for major refurbishment of an old bungalow. As Darren got to know us, and as our priorities and long-term thoughts materialised, he spent as much time as we wanted batting design ideas around. Importantly, he was very willing to listen and to develop our ideas into a stylish workable solution, and to do all that with rapid turnaround. His guidance and support with planning, costs and the tendering process was truly invaluable. During the build itself his firm style of project management, his approachable but no-nonsense relationship with contractors, and his ability to respond rapidly to our concerns or other emerging issues has steered this ambitious project through. Our single most important tip for anyone embarking on such a project is to get yourself a good architect, and we doubt if you could do better than approach Darren Macdonald.”
  • Marie Flemming
Absolutely delighted with the design, we now use the house in a completely different way.
